2.18.1 WCAG 3.3.1 (A) - Desktop

On different functions through the Monitoring and Programmes pages, error messages are displayed on screen based on the user’s input, for example, when an input option is not selected or when an invalid input is typed in.

These messages are only conveyed visually on screen and are not announced by screen readers. As screen reader users are not notified of the errors on the page, they might abandon the form thinking it isn’t functional.

2.18.3 Recommendation

Errors should be indicated by setting aria-live="assertive" so that dynamic elements on the page are announced by screen readers.
