2.24.1 WCAG 3.2.2 (A), 4.1.3 (AA) - Desktop

On the Drug Intolerances Patient Settings section, users can search for a specific drug. If it exists, the name of the drug appears within the search results visually. However, this is not communicated to screen reader users.

Furthermore, if a search does not match any criteria, nothing is displayed to sighted users or announced programmatically to screen reader users.

Users need to be informed about the results of their input. If no results are found, users would expect to see a message informing them of the same. This should be conveyed both visually and programmatically.

2.24.2 Recommendation

Display and announce a status message stating “No results found” instead of displaying a blank section.

Use aria-live="polite" to ensure that these updates are made available to screen reader users.
